Thank you parents and guardians for partnering with me this year. Your involvement is critical in ensuring your child's success! See below for a few ways that you can get started as we start out this new year:
1) Designate a special area where your child can complete their daily homework. Parents have shared one successful tip is to assign a set time that your child is required to work whether it's just to read, practice spelling words, or math facts. This will develop a steady and beneficial routine, even if they don't have additional work to "finish" from school.
2) Make sure that your child is reading and practicing good reading strategies while they do so! Your child should be able to talk about the pages that they have read every day. They can summarize, describe events/characters, and/or predict what might happen next in a story. These conversations although minor, make a BIG difference in their comprehension and understanding. It is also a nice accountability tool to make sure they are completing their reading!
3) Include your child in every day household chores from grocery shopping, to cooking, learning can and should be FUN! You would be surprised just how much learning can happen from a simple day's events! Have your child measure out an ingredient, or estimate by rounding the price of each item at the store! I promise they will be excited to have you included in this learning process!
